Seventeen people have been charged with a range of offences across Sefton following a targeted police operation aimed at locating and arresting outstanding suspects wanted by the courts.

Operation Sprint focuses on individuals believed to pose the greatest risk to victims and local communities. The initiative forms part of Merseyside Police’s ongoing efforts to reduce crime and improve public safety across the borough.

The operation brought together officers from Proactive Teams, Neighbourhood Policing, CID, the Public Protection Unit and Response Policing.

Among those charged were:

• Hannah Robinson, 36, from #Bootle, charged with breaching a restraining order. She remains in custody pending a court appearance.

• Bernard Daley, 47, from #Netherton, charged with attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody and is due to appear in court in August.

• Steven McIntosh, 55, from #Southport, charged with failing to appear at court in relation to drugs matters. He remains in custody.

• Dominic Sutcliffe, 48, from #Bootle, charged with theft from a shop. He remains in custody.

• Rebecca Craig, 46, from #Bootle, charged with theft from a shop. She remains in custody.

• Andrew Andersen, 57, from #Liverpool, was found guilty of harassment and received a 12-month suspended sentence.

• Philip Dean, 54, from #Crosby, has been charged with assault and is due to appear before the courts.

In addition, a further 10 people aged between 12 and 55 were arrested on suspicion of offences including assault, sexual assault, coercive and controlling behaviour, assisting an offender, rape and aggravated burglary.

Police say the results demonstrate their determination to actively pursue offenders and bring them before the courts.

A spokesperson said: “We are relentless in our pursuit of offenders and are determined to put them before the courts. These days of action support the work our officers carry out every day to bring offenders to justice and safeguard victims.”

Operation Sprint continues as part of ongoing efforts to make communities across Sefton safer.
