Man charged following Aintree rape offence
Update, 15 October Merseyside Police has charged a man with the rape and sexual assault of a woman following an offence in Aintree in the early hours of Sunday morning, 9 October. 36-year-old Lee Yuen from Railbrook Hey, Old Swan was charged with two counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He will appear at 9.45am this morning at Sefton Adult Remand Court.
Update, 14 October Merseyside Police has arrested a man on suspicion of rape following an offence in Aintree in the early hours of Sunday morning, 9 October. The 36-year-old man from the Old Swan area was arrested in the early hours of this morning, Friday 14 October, and has been taken into custody where he will be questioned by detectives.

Merseyside Police are appealing for people to come forward following a report of a rape on 9th October in Aintree shortly before 03.45am.
It is believed the victim was picked up by a taxi, along with 3 unknown females, in Liverpool city centre and raped in the Aintree area.
“Merseyside Police takes every report of rape and sexual assault extremely seriously and Merseyside Police appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to come forward.
“We are keen to speak to the three females who we believe got in the taxi with the victim in Liverpool city centre close to the Met Quarter, before getting out in the Anfield area prior to the incident. We want to make it clear they are not in any trouble, but may have information vital to our investigation.” Patrols have been stepped up in the area to reassure the local community and will remain so over the coming days.
