Merseyside Police Officers carried out a tactical stop and arrested a man following a reported domestic incident in Sefton yesterday evening, Monday 30 June.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “At around 11pm we received a report that a man had threatened a woman inside a property in Seaforth.”
“The victim managed to flee the address uninjured, and it is suspected the man stole her mobile phone before leaving the property.”
“Officers attended and following enquiries located the suspect driving a Mitsubishi Space Wagon along Dunnings Bridge Road. Despite the suspects efforts to escape, the vehicle was stopped and he was detained.
“A 41-year-old man from Netherton has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary, theft of motor vehicle, drink driving, driving without a licence and no insurance. He remains in police custody and will be questioned later today.”
Detective Inspector Paul McVeigh said: “The suspect attempted to escape by ramming two police vehicles several times until officers managed to stop the vehicle. He then tried to make off before Police Dog Ike assisted officers detaining him.”
Det Insp McVeigh added: “Violence against women and girls will simply not be tolerated and we will work tirelessly to bring perpetrators to justice.”
