A sawn-off shotgun recovered from a property in Sefton where renovation work is being done

A sawn-off shotgun has been recovered from a flat in Waterloo yesterday morning (Wednesday 3 November).

At around 7.45am, officers were called to a property on Church Road where renovation work was being carried out, and the firearm had been found hidden in a bag within the premises.

The weapon is believed to have been viable and has been recovered for forensic examination.

Enquiries are currently being carried out.

Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson from the Firearms Investigation Team said: “Every weapon we recover is one less out there on the streets that could be used to cause fear, intimidation or harm.”

“This gun is believed to be viable and in the wrong hands could potentially be used to cause serious injury or worse in our communities.”

“We rely on community intelligence to discover where weapons are being stored and who is using them, and I would ask that the public continue to be our eyes and ears.”

If you have got any information about the use or storage of weapons please DM @MerPolCC or @CrimestoppersUK on 0800 555 111.
