Merseyside Police stop-searched nearly 50 males in the Seaforth and Litherland area following the introduction of an S60 Order.
The Order, under S60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, ran from 3.30pm on Thursday 20 November until 9am on Friday 21st November and gave officers enhanced stop and search powers to stop males in the area aged between 16 and 40 years of age, stop and search vehicles and seize any dangerous items or items used to conceal a person's identity.

A total of 48 males who matched the search parameters were stop searched within the S60 area.
A man in his 30s was arrested in relation to outstanding warrants for possession of a controlled drug and failing to comply with a community order and a man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis and dealt with by way of a community resolution.
In addition there were two warrants executed in which cannabis was recovered and cash seized.
Sefton Targeted Policing Inspector Michelle Butland said: “The S60 orders are a valuable tool for us to show our visibility and also disrupt potential criminality and disorder.”
“We hope that taking action such as this helps people to feel safer in their communities.”
“Law abiding members of the public having nothing to fear and we would encourage them to engage with our officers if they see them out and about in the community.”
