There’s some fantastic news for the local community — the brand-new Aldi supermarket will officially open in Litherland on Thursday 13th November 2025!
The long-awaited store is being built on brownfield land at the junction of Pendle Drive and Gorsey Lane, a site most recently used by Sefton Council’s Children’s Services. With that use now ended, the vacant land is being transformed into a vibrant new hub for the community — a modern Aldi store offering an award-winning range of low-cost, high-quality groceries.
Aldi’s nearest existing branch in Netherton is an older, smaller format serving a different catchment area and can no longer meet growing local demand. Amid rising prices and the ongoing cost-of-living crisis, residents in Litherland have been calling for more affordable shopping options — and this brand-new Aldi will finally deliver just that.
The new store will provide greater choice and value for local families, reducing the need to travel further afield and easing pressure on other supermarkets across Sefton. With its excellent road and public transport links, it promises to be a convenient and accessible addition to the area.

This development represents a £7 million investment in Litherland and will create around 40 new full-time equivalent jobs, all paid at industry-leading rates. It will also help boost local footfall and support existing traders in the nearby Bowland Drive shopping parade.
The opening of Aldi on Thursday 13th November 2025 marks an exciting new chapter for Litherland — bringing jobs, value, and a fresh shopping experience to the heart of the community.
