Armed Police Respond to Firearms Incident in Litherland With Four Arrests

Part of a residential estate in Litherland has been cordoned off this afternoon following a firearms incident which prompted a large emergency response.
Officers were called to Bowland Drive off Gorsey Lane on the Pendle Estate on Monday 23 March, with several police vehicles including response cars and a van seen at the scene at around 5pm.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that armed officers attended following reports of shots being fired earlier in the day.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that armed police are in Litherland following a shooting this afternoon, Monday 23 March.
“At around 4pm, we were called to reports of shots being fired in the area of Fulwood Way. No injuries have been reported.
“Officers are in the area to establish the circumstances and gather evidence. Cordons and road closures are in place while this work continues. Please avoid the area and thanks for your patience.
“As part of enquiries, four men have been arrested on suspicion of firearms offences and taken into custody for questioning. A firearm has also been seized and will be forensically recovered.

Police remain at the scene this evening while investigations continue.
