On Thursday 24th July 2025, at approximately 6:13pm, emergency services were called to the Ainsdale Pinewoods following reports of a person who had fallen a significant distance down a sand dune.
The incident prompted a multi-agency response. HM Coastguard requested assistance from North West Ambulance Service’s Hazardous Area Response Team (HART), who in turn called for the support of quads and a rescue trailer to help extract the casualty from the difficult terrain.

The specialist quads and trailer made their way across the sandy landscape to reach the scene, where they coordinated with HART and the Southport Coastguard Rescue Team. The casualty had already been stabilised by paramedics on arrival, and a careful and controlled transfer was carried out.
The individual was then safely loaded into the rescue trailer and transported out of the dunes to a waiting ambulance, where they could receive further treatment.

Our thanks go out to all the emergency teams involved in this challenging operation, whose professionalism and teamwork ensured a swift and safe rescue.
