Davies Express is recruiting for a full time Logistics Operator to join its growing team in Crosby, L23.

Hours: Full time

Salary: £29,000 base salary plus performance related bonus opportunities

Reports to: Account Manager / Head of Operations

As the business continues to grow, Davies Express is looking for a Logistics Operator to join its sales and account management team.

The Role

The successful candidate will support Account Managers while also taking responsibility for the day to day management of smaller customer accounts.

Working across the complete transport booking process, you will handle enquiries, prepare quotations, source and book vehicles, communicate with customers and suppliers, monitor live jobs and help ensure successful delivery.

This is a hands on position suited to someone who is organised, commercially aware and comfortable working within a busy and time sensitive environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Support Account Managers with the day to day management of customer accounts

• Manage a portfolio of smaller accounts and build strong customer relationships

• Receive and process transport enquiries and provide accurate quotations

• Source and book suitable vehicles and transport solutions

• Book and manage jobs through company systems and transport platforms

• Liaise with customers, drivers, subcontractors and transport partners

• Monitor live jobs and resolve operational issues quickly

• Maintain accurate job information, rates, purchase orders and customer details

• Balance excellent customer service with commercial performance and margin

What Davies Express Is Looking For

Essential:

• Previous experience in transport, logistics, freight, courier services or a similar fast paced environment

• Strong communication and organisational skills

• Ability to manage multiple jobs and priorities under pressure

• Good attention to detail and accurate data entry

• Commercial awareness when quoting and sourcing transport

• Confidence using IT systems, email and Microsoft Office

Desirable:

• Experience using Courier Exchange or similar transport platforms

• Experience managing or supporting customer accounts

• Knowledge of same day, dedicated or time critical transport

• Knowledge of UK transport networks and vehicle types

The Person

Davies Express is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable and comfortable taking ownership.

You should be confident dealing with customers and suppliers, remain calm when plans change and be able to find solutions quickly.

The successful candidate will be a strong team player who understands the importance of both excellent customer service and commercial performance and is keen to develop within a growing business.

Salary, Bonus and Progression

The role offers a £29,000 base salary plus performance related bonus, linked to agreed KPIs covering account performance, service delivery and commercial results.

For someone who demonstrates strong operational, customer management and commercial ability, there will be opportunities to take on greater account responsibility and progress towards an Account Manager position as Davies Express continues to grow.
