Merchant Taylors’ School is seeking to appoint a number of Exam Invigilators to join its busy examinations team on a casual basis.

About the Role
Exam Invigilators play a vital role in ensuring that all examinations are conducted in a secure, calm and compliant environment, in line with awarding body regulations and the School’s own examination procedures.
You will be responsible for supervising students during formal examinations, ensuring that regulations are followed at all times, and that all candidates are treated fairly and consistently.
Previous experience is not required as full training will be provided. However, applicants will be asked to declare whether they have previously worked as an invigilator and whether they have any current malpractice or maladministration sanctions applied.
This is a casual, flexible role with working hours offered on an “as and when required” basis. The busiest periods are:
January – Internal mock examinations
9th May to 21st June – Main summer examination series
Additional ad-hoc sessions may be available throughout the academic year.
Key Responsibilities
Supervising students during examinations and ensuring a calm and orderly environment
Ensuring examination regulations and procedures are followed correctly
Distributing and collecting examination papers and materials
Checking attendance registers and seating plans
Dealing with student queries in accordance with exam regulations
Reporting any concerns, irregularities or incidents to the Exams Officer
Maintaining the confidentiality and security of examination materials at all times
Safeguarding Responsibilities
This role involves regulated activity with children and young people. As part of the School’s safeguarding commitment, the post holder will be expected to:
Help provide a safe and supportive environment in which students feel heard
Be vigilant to indicators of abuse or neglect
Recognise and report any changes in behaviour or mood that may give cause for concern
Report safeguarding concerns in line with the School’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy
Attend safeguarding training and updates as required
An enhanced DBS check including the children’s barred list will be required for this post.
