Merseyside Police have confirmed that officers recovered four firearms from land off Northern Perimeter Road on Tuesday, 2 June. The weapons recovered included a Skorpion submachine gun, two revolvers and a Glock handgun.
The firearms have now been seized and will undergo detailed forensic examination to establish whether they are viable weapons and whether they may be linked to any criminal activity.
Following extensive enquiries, detectives arrested four men in connection with the discovery. Those arrested are a 22 year old man from Crosby, a 21 year old man from Birkdale, a 20 year old man from Netherton and a 21 year old man from Maghull.
All four men have been arrested on suspicion of possession of a prohibited firearm.
