Mobile networks are currently being upgraded across Bootle to improve speed, coverage and overall performance.
While this is good news for mobile users, there is a small chance it could affect some TV services that are received through an aerial, such as Freeview, BT, TalkTalk and YouView.
What problems might you notice?
Picture breaking up or looking blocky
Sound cutting in and out
A complete loss of signal
Who is NOT affected?
If you watch TV through Sky or Virgin, you will not be affected. However, if you also use an aerial alongside these services, you could still notice issues.
What help is available?
Restore TV is offering free support to fix any problems caused by these upgrades. This is an official, independent service set up by the UK’s mobile networks and overseen by Ofcom.
Ben Roome, CEO of Restore TV, said:
“Free to view TV matters to millions of people across the UK. Restore TV is here to make sure you can keep watching as mobile networks are improved. If you notice new interference, we can help fix it quickly and at no cost.”
Extra support is available if you:
Are aged 75 or over
Are registered blind or partially sighted
Receive certain benefits such as PIP or Attendance Allowance
You may be more likely to be affected if:
You live in an area with a weak TV signal
You use a TV booster
Your aerial is close to a mobile mast
Support is also available for landlords or building managers if the issue affects flats or shared aerial systems.
