Major emergency services response following serious house fire in Bootle

A major emergency services operation is continuing in Bootle this morning following a serious house fire in the early hours.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service was called to Stone Square, Bootle, at 3.38am today, Tuesday 22 September, with the first crews arriving at 3.45am.

Firefighters arrived to find a semi detached house well alight.

At the height of the incident, six fire engines were in attendance as crews launched a major operation to search the property and tackle the blaze.

Eight firefighters wearing breathing apparatus entered the house to search for occupants while fighting the fire using hose reel jets.

One casualty at the scene was taken into the care of North West Ambulance Service and treated for burns while firefighters continued searching the property and bringing the fire under control.

Two members of the North West Ambulance Service Hazardous Area Response Team also entered the property alongside firefighters.

The main fire has now been extinguished and crews have been damping down the area. Two fire engines remained at the scene following the main firefighting operation.

Merseyside Police are also in attendance and a cordon remains in place.

There continues to be a significant emergency services presence in the area, with detectives and forensic officers reported to be at the scene as investigations get underway.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that an investigation into the incident is taking place.

Sefton Bubble is aware of further reports circulating locally regarding the seriousness of the incident.

However, at the time of publication, we have not received official confirmation from Merseyside Police or Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service regarding any fatalities and will therefore not speculate.
