Plans have emerged for a brand new Aldi supermarket to be built in Ainsdale, a development that could bring significant investment and new jobs to the area.
The proposal would see a modern Aldi store built on land around the Sandbrook Road and Sandbrook Way area as part of wider plans to improve the Ainsdale neighbourhood centre.
The new supermarket would represent an investment of around £7 million and could create up to 40 full time jobs for local people. Aldi says the roles would be paid above the National Living Wage.
Initial plans suggest the store would include a sales area of around 1,181 square metres along with a large customer car park providing approximately 117 spaces. This would include accessible parking bays, parent and child spaces and electric vehicle charging points.
The development would also include landscaping improvements around the site as well as construction jobs during the building phase.
Before submitting a full planning application to Sefton Council, Aldi has launched a public consultation so residents and businesses can share their views on the proposal.
More than 2,000 households and businesses in the local area are expected to be contacted as part of the consultation which runs until 19 March.
If the plans are approved, the new store could provide a boost for the local economy while offering Ainsdale residents another affordable place to shop.
Residents are being encouraged to take part in the consultation and share their thoughts before the final planning application is submitted.
