Man and woman arrested after concerns raised for welfare of three young children in north Liverpool

A man and a woman have been arrested after police were called to a property in north Liverpool following concerns for the welfare of several young children.
Merseyside Police said officers attended the address on Tuesday 4 August after receiving a report. During their initial enquiries, a 29 year old man and a 54 year old woman, both from Liverpool, were arrested on suspicion of assault, ill treatment, neglect or abandonment of a child or young person causing unnecessary suffering or injury.
Three children, all aged under three, were taken to hospital as a precaution to be assessed.
The two people arrested remain in police custody while enquiries continue.
