A man from Bootle has been banned from entering Stanley Road in Bootle after he was handed a three-year Criminal Behaviour Order.
Jonathan Heffernan, 46, appeared at Sefton Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday 10 February and the CBO will now be in place until February 2029. The order has been issued following numerous incidents of begging, drunken behaviour, public order and theft.
The CBO prohibits him from entering Stanley Road or any license stores or pubs in the area. Entering the Strand Shopping Centre, entering any shop or business he has been banned from, begging in public, or sitting or loitering near shops, asking any person for money, or being in possession of any open cans, bottles, or other items containing alcohol in a public place.
Local Policing Inspector Ken Sumner said: "We have taken action against a man involved in repeated anti social behaviour and theft across Bootle, Crosby, and Southport. Criminal Behaviour Orders are an effective mechanism in tackling activities linked with anti-social behaviour and crime.
"Between January and February 2026, Jonathan Heffernan was arrested on multiple occasions for breaching a Community Protection Notice (CPN), which prohibited him from street drinking and being part of groups in certain areas whose behaviour was anti-social. Several of these incidents resulted in charges and court issued fines, and should Heffernan breach this order then he will be arrested and could be imprisoned.
"We remain committed to tackling anti social behaviour and supporting local communities by taking firm action against persistent offenders and preventing such crimes.”
