Man jailed for multiple shoplifting offences in shops across Sefton

A man has been jailed and banned from entering three supermarkets chains across Merseyside after committing multiple shoplifting offences.

Sean Draboczi, 36 years, of no fixed address, appeared at Sefton Magistrates Court yesterday, Thursday 28 August, and pleaded guilty to 12 counts of theft in stores mainly located in #Southport and #Formby.

He was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison and issued with a two-year Criminal Behaviour Order.

This order bans him from entering any Co-Op, Aldi and Sainsbury's store in Merseyside until 28 August 2027.

In addition, he is prohibited from entering Morrisons Daily on Mount Road, Tranmere and the store on St James Street in Southport, Marks And Spencer’s on Hallsall Lane, Formby and Chapel Street, Southport and Spar on Harrington Road, Formby.

The catalogue of offences committed by Draboczi was read out in court, which included shoplifting at Marks and Spencer on Chapel Street, Southport in May. He walked around the fridges and filled his basket with £321 worth of steak and then left the store without paying.

In another instance on 8 July, he went into Co-Op on Fylde Road in Southport and filled a shopping bag with steak worth £200 and left the shop without paying.

Community Policing Inspector Graham Fisher said: “The extent of Draboczi prolific offending has prohibited him from entering any Co-Op, Aldi and Sainsbury's store in Merseyside. In addition he is banned from a number of stores which is great news to the local community and businesses.”

“Criminal Behaviour Orders continue to be an extremely effective tool and our successful application to amend in this case shows our commitment to dealing robustly with repeat offenders who have a negative impact on the communities we serve. “

“If Draboczi breaches of this order following his release from prison then please report this to Merseyside Police.”
