A man has today, Thursday 16 October, been jailed for two years and nine months following a fail-to-stop road traffic collision in Crosby. At around 00.10am on Monday 22 January 2024 Kyle Foster was driving a Volvo S60 along Liverpool Road in Crosby at speeds in excess of 65mph when he collided with a 19 year-old man crossing the road.
The pedestrian, now aged 20, suffered serious injuries and has required multiple surgeries and to this day is still on the path to recovery.
Foster failed to stop at the scene and made efforts to hide his involvement by making attempts to have the car repaired. The car was eventually located on an industrial estate, outside a vehicle body shop, with the registration plates removed.Today at Liverpool Crown Court, Foster, 28, of Crosby Road North, Waterloo was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He was also given a four year and four month driving disqualification.
Sergeant Phil Everett from Matrix Roads Policing said: "Foster's reckless behaviour while behind the wheel of a car has had a devastating impact on his victim which continues to this day."
“The fact he tried to hide his involvement by leaving the scene and attempting to have the damage to his car repaired speaks volumes about his character and lack of remorse."
“Thanks to our investigation we were able to locate the car and today Foster appeared in court to be sentenced as a result of his actions.”
"Merseyside Police remains committed to the prevention of serious injury and death on the roads, to work towards Vision Zero – our strategy focused on reducing the amount of road traffic collisions in our region and to lower the number of people killed and seriously injured on our streets.”
"We cannot do this alone and would continue to encourage anyone with information about drivers who flout the law to report it to us so we can take positive action."
