A local running club have raised over £14,000 and are trying to raise £50,000 to do a full refurbishment of the Rimrose Valley Chaffers running track which is used by the whole community.
John Carragher who is organising the fundraiser said: “We are a local community running club called Marsh Lane Harriers. We formed in January 2019 with 5 members and we now have over 200 members and we are affiliated by England athletics.”
“As a club we have restored Rimrose Valley (chaffers) running track to some extent, with great feedback and appreciation from the local community. This was achieved through the efforts and time of our club members, with very little funding. After the success of this it was clear to us that the track was more than just a running track, it became a community hub for people battling through there mental health issues due to the world wide health pandemic (COVID).”
“Now we are looking to restore rimrose valley (chaffers) running track to its full potential. To do this we will need funding and donations.”
Lets get everyone behind them, they are running past local schools tomorrow, Friday 30th April for their 12pm run. The local schools are currently making banners for them to cheer as they go past. Come on everyone, please donate something, every penny counts!
