Residents have contacted us today after the sudden diversion of the 53 bus due to the temporary closure of Mount Pleasant in Waterloo.
From Monday 23 February 2026 until Saturday 7 March 2026, Mount Pleasant is closed in both directions from the junction of South Road to the junction of Wellington Street to allow carriageway resurfacing works. The closure is expected to remain in place for 13 days.
A roadworks notice issued by Stagecoach, following notification from Sefton Council, confirms diversions are now in place for Services 53 and 780.
Many residents, particularly older and offline passengers, reported being left waiting at stops with no visible notice of the changes.
