Sefton Central MP Bill Esterson raised more than £400 in aid of the women and children's charity SWACA at his inaugural charity barbecue.
The Labour MP said he was delighted by the response from Labour members and supporters and thanked all who attended and contributed to the event. Attendees included the Liverpool City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram.
Sefton Women's and Children's Aid (SWACA) said the funds would be used to help provide support to families suffering the effects of domestic abuse and violence.
Mr Esterson said: "We were really pleased with the response from our members and friends and I was delighted to raise £415 for SWACA. This is the first summer barbecue I have hosted but hopefully not the last.
"A massive thanks also goes to Ian and his staff at the MCA in Maghull who were fantastic hosts and really went the extra mile to accommodate us on the night. The grounds of the MCA are perfect for this sort of event and we were pleased to have been able to support a local business in having our event there."
Neil Frackelton, chief executive of Swaca, said:" Sefton Women's and Children's Aid (SWACA) would like to express a very sincere thank you to Bill Esterson MP and his staff for a fantastic donation of over £400 following a recently organised Bill Esterson Summer BBQ in aid of SWACA. SWACA highly values the on-going support of Bill Esterson and his colleagues, as we continue to support women and children, living in Sefton, experiencing / affected by domestic abuse. "
