Murphy’s Tavern expands in Crosby Village with new ‘Snug’ opening this October

A popular Crosby Village venue is expanding with the creation of a brand new space designed to offer customers a quieter and more relaxed traditional pub experience.

Murphy’s Tavern, on Moor Lane in the heart of Crosby Village, is preparing to open “The Snug” this October, adding a completely different setting alongside its existing bar, food, live entertainment and sports offering.

The new area has been inspired by the traditional Irish pub snug and is being created for customers who want somewhere comfortable to enjoy a drink, food or conversation away from the livelier atmosphere of the main bar.

The Snug will feature custom seating, traditional pub décor, low lighting and cosy corners, with the emphasis firmly on creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.

Unlike the main areas of Murphy’s Tavern, which are known for live music and televised sport, The Snug is intended to provide a more peaceful environment without music or other distractions.

It will give customers the option of enjoying the atmosphere of Murphy’s while choosing the type of experience that suits them, whether that is watching sport and enjoying live entertainment in the main venue or settling down for a quieter drink and catch up in The Snug.

Further investment in Crosby Village

The expansion represents another investment in Crosby Village from the independent hospitality team behind Murphy’s Tavern.

It follows the recent opening of The George, also on Moor Lane, which was acquired by the team behind Murphy’s Tavern and has undergone its own transformation.

Jon Hewitt, Director of Murphy’s Tavern, said the support the business has received from the local community had played an important part in its decision to continue investing in Crosby.

Jon said: “The reaction from the Crosby community since we opened Murphy’s Tavern has been incredible. With the recent opening of The George going so well, expanding Murphy’s to add The Snug was the natural next step.”

“We wanted to create a dedicated, intimate space that offers that classic, warm Irish hospitality people love, giving our regulars even more reason to stay local.”

Murphy’s Tavern currently offers food and drinks alongside live music and sports, and the addition of The Snug will broaden the choice available to customers looking for a different type of evening out in Crosby Village.
