Nine arrested across Sefton in police operation targeting outstanding suspects

Eight men and one woman have been arrested across Sefton as part of a police operation aimed at locating and detaining outstanding suspects.

Merseyside Police carried out Operation Sprint, which targets offenders suspected of posing a risk to victims and communities and supports wider efforts to reduce crime across the borough.

The operation involved officers from Proactive Teams, Neighbourhood Policing, CID, the Public Protection Unit and Response Policing.

Scott Langton, 54, from Bootle, has been charged with theft. He is due to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Saturday 26 September.

A 55 year old man from Banks in Southport was arrested on suspicion of breaching a restraining order. He remains in custody awaiting interview.

A 47 year old woman from Southport was arrested on suspicion of theft. She remains in custody awaiting interview.

A 15 year old boy from Ainsdale was arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. He remains in custody awaiting interview.

Two 15 year old boys from Southport were also arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery. Both remain in custody awaiting interview.

A 33 year old man from Seaforth was arrested on suspicion of theft. He remains in custody awaiting interview.

A 58 year old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of theft. He remains in custody awaiting interview.

A 54 year old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of burglary. He remains in custody awaiting interview.

Inspector Graeme Chalinor, from the Sefton Proactive Team, said: “Today’s results reflect the proactive work taking place across Sefton to identify and disrupt those involved in criminality.”

“Keeping our communities safe is a priority, and we will continue to take robust action against offenders while supporting victims and those most at risk of harm. The activity carried out today builds on the ongoing efforts of officers and partners across the borough.”
