Officers made arrests, seized drugs and recovered a flick knife after communities spoke up in Sefton

Officers in Bootle have made arrests, seized drugs and recovered a flick knife after communities spoke up about drug dealing in the area.

A Misuse of Drugs Act warrant was executed at a house in Bootle at 6.45pm on Wednesday (6 March). During the search a quantity of cannabis was located as well as items associated with drug supply such as digital scales, snap bags and cash.

The man and woman inside were detained and a 37-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both from #Bootle, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply a Class B drug (cannabis). They were taken into custody for questioning and have been released under investigation.

The same day, a man stop searched on Trinity Road, Bootle was found to have cannabis and cocaine on him. A 32-year-old man from Bootle was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A and B drugs (cocaine and cannabis). He was taken into custody to be interviewed and has been released under investigation.

In a third incident on Wednesday, a vehicle was stopped and searched on Crosby Road South and a folding pocket knife was discovered alongside a bag of cannabis resin and cash. Further searches took place at a property in Liverpool city centre where items associated with drug dealing were recovered alongside designer clothing, footwear and sunglasses.

A 30-year-old man from Liverpool city centre was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis and has since been released under investigation. A 38-year-old man from Warrington was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and drug driving and recalled to prison.

Sefton Neighbourhood Inspector Ray Mavrakakis said: “People in Sefton have told us their concerns about drug dealing, and we have used a number of tools at our disposal to target those suspected of bringing this misery to our communities."

“In carrying out warrants, stop searching people and conducting vehicle checks, we have disrupted them and sent a very clear message that those engaged in drug dealing are not welcome here in Sefton."

“If you use homes to store drugs, or transport drugs and weapons on our streets and roads you will be stopped and brought to justice."

“As well as making arrests, we have taken drugs and weapons out of circulation, which can no longer be used to cause harm or fear in our communities."

“We are relentless in our pursuit of those involved in drug dealing and serious and organised criminality across Merseyside."

“I would ask anyone who has information about this activity to come forward, either directly or anonymously to Crimestoppers, so action can be taken.”

Anyone who has any information about drug dealing in their area can contact @CrimestoppersUK completely anonymously on 0800 555 111 or contact 101. In an emergency always contact 999.
