Police appeal for witnesses following fatal collision in Maghull last night 10th February

Merseyside Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in #Maghull last night, Tuesday 10 February.
At around 7.20pm, emergency services were called to Eastway near to the junction with Coniston Road, to reports of a collision involving a black Ford Fiesta and a male pedestrian.
Emergency services attended but the man was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Enquiries remain ongoing to locate and inform the man's next of kin.
We can confirm that a 31-year-old man from Fazakerley has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst unfit. He remains in police custody and will be interviewed by detectives in due course.
The road was reopened at around 2.50am, and enquiries continue in the local area.
Detective Sergeant Andy Roper from our Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) said: “Although someone has been arrested, we continue to appeal to anyone with information to come forward and help us establish the full circumstances of this incident.
"We are keen to speak to anyone who was travelling on Eastway, near to The Frank Hornby Wetherspoon pub, at around 7.20pm. If your vehicle has a dash camera, then please get in touch so that we can check if it has captured something you may be unaware is of importance to our enquiries."
