Merseyside Police have released an image of a man who may hold vital information following a reported robbery at the New Strand Post Office in Bootle earlier this month.
The incident occurred at around 9.10am on Thursday, 19th June, when it was reported that a man entered the Post Office, grabbed a member of staff, and demanded cash. The suspect then fled the scene on foot with a significant amount of money contained in grey sacks, before entering the passenger side of a Ford Transit van parked on Jersey Street.
As part of their ongoing enquiries, detectives have today (Monday 30th June) released an image of a man they believe could assist with the investigation.
Detective Constable Immy Mahmood said: “Our investigation into this incident is progressing and we are now in a position to release an image of a man who could have information.”
“If you recognise yourself in this image, or know who this is, please contact us as a matter of urgency.”
“Since the robbery, we’ve carried out several lines of enquiry, including examining CCTV footage from the area. We believe there are still people who have not yet come forward, and I would urge them to do so. Even the smallest piece of information could be important.”
“We’re also appealing to anyone who was driving around the Washington Parade and Jersey Street area at the time of the incident to check their dashcam footage.”
“The area was likely busy that morning with vehicles and pedestrians — if you saw anything suspicious or recorded anything significant on your mobile phone or dashcam, please get in touch.”
