One of Sefton’s newest cultural success stories is celebrating national recognition after Salt and Tar was named a finalist for Live Event of the Year at the Liverpool City Region Culture & Creativity Awards 2026.
The award is a brand new category that recognises live events making a genuine cultural impact across the City Region. Since opening in 2023, Salt and Tar has rapidly established itself as a bold and ambitious venue that puts creativity and community at its heart.
From its strong artistic vision to impressive audience numbers, the space has quickly become one of Sefton’s standout cultural gems, drawing attention well beyond the borough.
A major highlight came in 2025 with the hugely successful Music Weekender, which attracted almost 12,000 visitors. The event brought together outstanding performances with community focused programming and showcased exactly why Salt and Tar is gaining such a strong reputation across the region.
Being named a finalist is a significant moment for the venue and a proud achievement for Sefton, highlighting the area’s growing influence on the wider cultural landscape.
