A Bootle-based men’s mental health charity has been honoured with one of the region’s most meaningful accolades. Sean’s Place, a vital community organisation providing support for men across Sefton and beyond, has been named a winner at the BBC Radio Merseyside Make a Difference Awards 2025.
The charity shared their heartfelt gratitude to the judging panel – which included Marina Dalglish – for selecting them as winners, and to the wonderful family who nominated them for the award. They also thanked Leanne Campbell, who hosted the awards evening, and Kev Duala, for making it a truly memorable night.
“This award is for all our members who have trusted us to support them, and for our team who make everything possible,” the charity said.
A Lifeline for Men Across Sefton
Located in Bootle, Sean’s Place was founded by Debbie Rogers in memory of her brother Sean, with one clear mission – to improve men’s mental health and reduce isolation by offering a safe, welcoming and stigma-free environment where men can talk, heal, and grow.
What began as a small project has grown into a vital support hub for the local community. Today, Sean’s Place supports over 2,500 men every year, providing a wide range of free services including one-to-one therapy, counselling, peer support groups, wellbeing workshops, social activities and skills-based sessions – all aimed at improving confidence, mental wellbeing and reducing loneliness.
The charity’s work is built on compassion, community and connection – values that have helped countless men across Sefton and Merseyside rebuild their lives and find hope again.

A Well-Deserved Award
The BBC Radio Merseyside Make a Difference Awards celebrate the people and organisations going above and beyond to make life better for others. For Sean’s Place, this award is more than just recognition – it’s a tribute to every man who has walked through their doors and every team member and volunteer who has supported them along the way.
This achievement shines a spotlight on the life-changing work Sean’s Place continues to do every day and highlights the importance of accessible mental health support in our community.
From all of us at Sefton Bubble – congratulations to everyone at Sean’s Place on this hugely deserved award. Your work is truly transforming lives across Sefton and we are so proud to celebrate this incredible achievement with you. ❤️
