Sefton bodybuilder John Youssef has reached a remarkable milestone in his competitive career, earning 3rd place in the world at the prestigious PCA World Championships. This outstanding bronze-medal finish marks his highest-ever global ranking and stands as one of Sefton’s biggest sporting achievements of the year.
John — who lives in Formby and owns Youssef Strength, a respected local gym — delivered a career-best performance that rounds off an exceptional 2025 season. Across the year he secured four major wins, including titles at the PCA North East, BPA Masters Allstars, Mr Celtic, and the 2Bros Coaching Cup.
But it was his results on bodybuilding’s most competitive stages that truly set him apart. After a huge 2nd place at the PCA British Finals, confirming his status as one of the UK’s top masters athletes, John went on to surpass all previous achievements with a world-level 3rd place, improving upon strong top-10 and 6th-place finishes from past seasons.

As a gym owner and coach, John’s success continues to inspire athletes and fitness enthusiasts across Sefton. His journey proves that with dedication, resilience, and relentless hard work, international excellence can be achieved right here in our community.
Looking ahead, John has already set his sights on his next major challenge: the Mr. Universe competition in May 2026. His goal is bold and determined: “I am determined to win and earn my pro card,” he said — a statement that sets the tone for what could be the defining moment of his bodybuilding career.
A huge congratulations to John on bringing a World Championship bronze home to Sefton — a true inspiration and an achievement our whole borough can be proud of.
