Statement from United Utilities following the water mains burst on Church Road this morning

❌ Road Closure ❌

Following a water mains burst, part of Dunnings Bridge Road is closed.

UPDATE AT 2pm

You may notice our team of engineers on and around Church Road. The repairs are complex so it’s taking longer than we'd hope to plan, begin and carry out the repair, but please be assured we are doing everything we can to get your taps flowing and toilets flushing again.

Thank you for your patience and understanding whilst our team tackle the repair.

A statement from United Utilities at 11:49am this morning:

We are sorry if you're experiencing no water or poor pressure this morning. This has been caused by a burst on one of our water mains on Church Road. Our team will be in the area throughout the course of the morning due to the complex nature of the repair that is required.

Just to let you know, our teams are still working hard to fix the problem on our network. In the meantime our fleet of water tankers will be in the area, trying to restore and maintain supplies, however some of you may notice you have no water currently and others may have poor water pressure.

We have received a number of calls from customers in the Liverpool area, letting us know that their tap water is discoloured.

This has happened because of burst on Church Road.

Our pipes have naturally occurring sediments and minerals which can get disturbed from the bottom of the pipes every now and then, normally when we have carried out a repair or have replaced a section of water main.

We know it doesn’t look nice but don’t worry, it’s unlikely to be harmful and will settle down again with time. You can help by letting your cold water tap run at a slight trickle until your water runs clear again.

In the meantime we’ll be keeping an eye on this to make sure your tap water returns to normal again as quickly as possible. Please take a look at our discoloured water page for more information.

We're sorry for any inconvenience this maybe causing.

United Utilities are at the site and further updates will be shared as they are available.

The incident is by the Netherton pub, Church Road from the golf course to Kirkstone Road.
