We can confirm a man was arrested last night, Monday 24th November, in Blundellands following reports that someone was stealing items from cars.
At around 9pm on Monday 24 November, we received a report that a male was walking around the Blundellsands Road West area and attempting to break into vehicles.
Officers attended and located the suspect nearby. Following a search of his clothing, they found a number of suspected stolen items, including a mobile phone.
The man was also found to be in possession of multiple bladed weapons, including small knives and a machete, as well as snap bags of cannabis and an air pistol.
A 39-year-old man from Prescot was arrested on suspicion of theft from a motor vehicle and burglary. He remains in police custody.
Detective Inspector Sara Lang said: “Thanks to the swift response from officers, we were able to arrest a man at the scene after the incident was reported to us.
“I hope this shows our communities how seriously we take these reports. Whether we are able to attend and detain suspects, as in this case, or build a picture of where offending is happening and focus our resources accordingly, all information is acted upon.”
“If you have any information about burglaries or car-related crime in your area, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.”
