Teenager Charged After Man Struck With Baseball Bat During Litherland Robbery

A 17 year old boy has been charged following a violent robbery in Litherland in which a man was allegedly struck with a baseball bat before having his mobile phone stolen.
The incident took place at around 7.50pm on Monday 29 June on Pennington Road Footbridge.
According to Merseyside Police, the victim was followed by a group of males before being assaulted. It is alleged that he was hit twice with a baseball bat before his mobile phone was taken.
The victim suffered a head injury during the attack and was taken to hospital, where he required stitches.
Following enquiries by officers, a baseball bat was seized during a search of a property in Bootle and a 17 year old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested.
He has now been charged with robbery and has been remanded into custody. He is due to appear at Merseyside Youth Remand Court in Liverpool today, Thursday 2 July.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that their investigation is continuing and are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or who has any information that could assist officers to come forward.
