The junction of Church Road and Hawthorne Road in Litherland remains closed by police after RTC

Church Road in Litherland remains closed at the junction of Hawthorne Road after a serious crash this afternoon.

The two-vehicle crash happened at around 2.45pm and involved a HGV and a car in Church Road, Litherland.

Emergency services are in attendance including two fire engines, a search and rescue team, paramedics and police.

Diversions are in place as traffic builds in rush hour. Church Road remains closed closest to the junction with Hawthorne Road.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “At around 2.40pm, we received a report that a lorry was in collision with a Ford Fiesta at the junction of Church Road and Hawthorne Road.”

"A woman in her 70s has suffered minor injuries and will be taken to hospital as a precaution.”

"Road closures are in place on Church Road and motorists are advised to avoid the area.”
