Two arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and possession of offensive weapons in Southport
Officers in Sefton have this afternoon (Thursday, 24 January) arrested two people on suspicion of drug offences and possession of offensive weapons.
Officers were due to carry out a search warrant at an address in Southport when they noticed a man approach the property – he was then stopped by officers and found to be in possession of an axe and a quantity of what is thought to be Class A drugs. The driver of the car was also arrested at the scene.
Officers then searched the car and recovered a quantity of cash and a hammer. All items and drugs have been recovered for forensic examination.
The pair, a man aged 29-years and a woman aged 47-years, both from the Kirkdale area, were arrested in suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of an offensive weapon. They remain in police custody for questioning.
Inspector Graham Fisher said: “This is just one example of how the force works to use intelligence to put officers on the ground in places where we believe drug activity is taking place."
