Two suspected drug dealers have been arrested after police recovered 110 wraps of suspected heroin and crack cocaine in Bootle.
In the early hours of Tuesday 16 June, Matrix officers on patrol on Stanley Road carried out a stop search on two men who were found to be in possession of cannabis.
Both men were taken to a police station for further searches, where officers discovered a significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs. One man was found with 70 wraps of suspected heroin and crack cocaine hidden in his underwear, along with a large amount of cash. The second man was found with 40 wraps of suspected heroin and crack cocaine concealed in his shorts.
Two men, aged 54 and 52, both from Bootle, were arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and Class B drugs, namely heroin, crack cocaine and cannabis. They remain in police custody for questioning.
Matrix Chief Inspector Derek Riley said: “This is a very good result where suspected drug dealing has been uncovered, and two people have been arrested in connection with this.”
“A significant quantity of suspected Class A drugs has now been removed from our streets which could have seriously harmed vulnerable drug users who are exploited by drug dealers and organised crime groups.”
“Drug dealing is hugely damaging to our communities, and this is part of our proactive work to ensure we take offenders supplying drugs off our streets.”
“We rely on information from the public and I would ask our community to be our eyes and ears.”
“I would ask anyone who has information about this kind of activity to come forward so action can be taken.”
Anyone with information about suspected drug dealing or criminal activity is urged to contact Merseyside Police via social media, online, or by calling 101.
