Two Sefton residents charged after drugs and cash haul found on M62

Two people have been charged today, Friday 7 November, following a stop search of a vehicle on the M62 motorway.
On Wednesday evening officers stopped a vehicle on the M62 and found a quantity of cannabis and 20 wraps of white powder inside the van.
Later a further search was carried out at an address in Sefton where a significant quantity of money, a small amount of cannabis and three designer watches were discovered.
Richard Jones, aged 55 years of Kirkstone Road North in Litherland has been charged with possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug, namely cocaine, possession of a controlled Class B drug, cannabis and possession of criminal property. He appeared at Liverpool Magistrates Court today has been remanded into custody.
While Kristine Dixon, 47 years of Kirkstone Road North in Litherland was charged with possession of criminal property. She has been bailed with conditions.
They both will next appear at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday 5 December.
Detective Inspector Chris Carlin said: “Serious organised crime gangs are massive blight to our communities where drugs are closely linked to serious violence, involving firearm and knife crime.”
“Criminals involved in organised crime have no thought for anyone other than themselves, and their criminal intent and greed.”
“Stop searches, warrants, land searches and arrests take place all year round, and in many instances it is thanks to the public who tell us where there are issues in the community. If you see suspected drug dealing or criminality in your area let us know and we will take action.”
