Crosby Bubble has been contacted by a local postal worker who has asked to remain anonymous, regarding ongoing letter delivery delays being experienced by residents.
According to the worker, Royal Mail staff are currently operating under internal working restrictions which are prioritising tracked parcel deliveries over standard letter rounds. This means that in some cases, letter deliveries may be delayed if completing them would impact tracked deliveries or extend beyond scheduled working hours.
They also state that staff are presently not being permitted to work overtime or cover additional rounds on their days off, which has reportedly resulted in fewer staff being available to cover full delivery routes.
The postal worker wished to stress that frontline postmen and women are eager to deliver mail and are doing everything they are permitted to do within the current working arrangements. They expressed concern that the situation is causing both operational pressures and financial strain for some staff members, particularly following the extended hours many worked over the Christmas period.
Crosby Bubble understands that this information reflects one worker’s experience and perspective, but felt it was important to share as residents continue to report ongoing delays in letter deliveries.
If Royal Mail wish to provide an official response or clarification, we are more than happy to publish it.
