From QLocal Southport:
An open letter to Southport...
As we approach 29th July, many in Southport will be reflecting on the tragic events of last summer. This is a deeply personal and emotional time for so many, especially the families of Alice, Bebe, and Elsie, those injured, and everyone affected.
Your compassion over the past year has been a source of strength and comfort, and the solidarity shown across our community continues to shine.
This year, we kindly ask that no floral tributes be laid at Hart Street or school settings. Instead, we invite those who wish to pay tribute to consider donating to local causes such as The Southport Stronger Together Appeal, Elsie’s Story, Bebe’s Hive, Hope’s Help, Alice’s Wonderdance, Southport Hesketh Round Table, or the North West Air Ambulance.
At 3pm on Tuesday 29th July, a three-minute silence will be held and recognised by Sefton Council and others across the Liverpool City Region. Please join us wherever you may be in a moment of remembrance.
Quiet spaces will be available locally to light a candle, say a prayer, or simply reflect. Support will also be available at these locations for anyone who needs it.
Let us continue to honour Alice, Bebe, and Elsie, not only in remembrance but by living the values they embodied: kindness, creativity, and love.
More information and support can be found at www.sefton.gov.uk/southporttogether
