Police Increasing Patrols Following Two Incidents Reported in Crosby

Merseyside Police have confirmed that enquiries are ongoing following reports of suspicious circumstances in Crosby on Thursday 12 February.

At around 5.55pm, police received a report that a woman had been followed while walking home in the area of St William Road and Rosemoor Road. The incident is understood to have occurred at approximately 3.20pm and was reported later that evening.

Police say that a man of similar description was also reported to have followed a boy in Moorside Park that same afternoon.

The male is described as white, around 6ft tall, with stubble and light brown or ginger hair. He was wearing a grey puffer jacket, tracksuit and trainers and was smoking at the time.

Officers have confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing and that they are liaising with schools in the area to provide reassurance and information.

Neighbourhood Inspector Ken Sumner said: “We understand the concern that such incidents cause those who experience them, and to other residents, parents and carers in the area. We are carrying out enquiries and will be paying extra attention to the location in coming days.”

“If you have any information, please come forward via @MerPolCC or 101 with reference 853 of 12 February and we can take the necessary action. Always call 999 if a crime is in progress.”

This follows an earlier incident reported on Wednesday 11 February in Moorside Park, in which a 16-year-old girl reported that a man exposed himself before riding away on a bicycle. That matter remains under investigation, with police liaising with local schools and appealing for information under reference 26000116743.

Police have not confirmed that the incidents are linked, but officers are aware of the concern within the community and have stated they will be paying extra attention to the affected areas in the coming days.

Anyone with information relating to either incident is urged to contact Merseyside Police via 101 or social media quoting the relevant reference numbers.

Sefton Bubble will continue to share confirmed updates as they become available.
