Sefton Police Team strive to ensure antisocial behaviour and criminality is dealt with robustly

Our community policing team in #Southport were busy on Wednesday 5th January to ensure the streets were kept safe.

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: “A 17-year-old male from Southport was detained by officers on Bath Street after making off on foot.“

“He was found to be in possession of 30 bags of white powder believed to be cocaine and around £1,000 in cash.”

“Following a further search of his property officers recovered drug dealing paraphernalia, plus large quantities of cannabis resin and cannabis buds and suspected class A drugs, which is believed to be cocaine. The drugs have been taken for forensic testing.”

“He was arrested on suspicion of intent to supply Class A and B drugs. He remains in police custody.”

“Also that evening officers arrested two men from Southport on suspicion of theft.”

“Our PCSO’s found two men hiding in the public toilets on the Promenade.”

“Adam John Stock, 32 years, of Sefton Street, Southport has been charged with theft while Daniel Paul McKenzie, 32 years of Marsh Lane, Bootle was charged with theft and appeared at Wirral Adult Remand Court yesterday. He remains in custody.”

“The same night, a Peugeot car was seized following a report of a driver with no licence and no insurance. The male has been reported for driving offences.”

“Finally, two 15-year-old males and two 15-year-old females were arrested following a report of break-in at the old Homebase building on the Meols Cop Retail Estate. They were de-arrested and taken home.”

Graham Fisher, community policing inspector for Southport, said: “This was a good evening’s work for our officers, particularly the drugs arrest where a significant amount was found of the suspect.”

“Our officers strive to ensure that anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and violence in the town and surrounding areas is being dealt with robustly.”

“We carry our proactive patrols in key areas where our communities tell us they are experiencing issues.”

“If you have anti-social behaviour or criminality in your area let us know and we will take action.”
