A well known landmark in Sefton is preparing to welcome customers once again after standing empty for seven years.
The former Red Squirrel pub on the Formby Bypass is set to reopen under a brand new identity, The Wild Roe, bringing fresh life to a site that has been part of the local landscape for decades.

The much loved venue has remained closed since 2019, leading many residents to wonder whether it would ever reopen. Now, thanks to new ownership and a major transformation, a new chapter is about to begin.
Taking the reins are the experienced team behind the highly successful Murphy’s Tavern in Crosby Village. Renowned for creating welcoming venues with a strong community focus, the team has ambitious plans to turn The Wild Roe into a destination venue for people from across Sefton and beyond.
The redevelopment aims to breathe new life into the site while creating a welcoming space for families, friends, local residents and visitors alike. The return of activity to the prominent bypass location is expected to be welcomed by many who have watched the building sit vacant in recent years.
The reopening marks the revival of one of the area’s most recognisable former pubs and is already generating excitement among residents eager to see what the new owners have planned.

Everyone at Sefton Bubble would like to wish the owners and staff every success with this exciting new venture. Bringing a long closed landmark back to life is a significant achievement, and we look forward to seeing The Wild Roe become a thriving part of the Sefton hospitality scene.
