A Section 60 Order and Section 34 Dispersal Order will be introduced in Maghull today, Friday 9 May, following recent incidents of anti-social behaviour.
The Section 60, under S60 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994, gives officers enhanced powers to stop and search individuals in the area and is designed to minimise serious violence.
This will be in place from 3pm today and will remain until 4am on Saturday 10 May.
The Section 34, which is under the Anti-Social Behaviour & Policing Act 2014, gives officers and police community support traffic officers powers to direct people who are engaging in anti-social behaviour or are likely to become involved in such incidents away from the area.
Should a person who has previously been directed to leave the area return, an offence would be committed, which they may ultimately be arrested. It also gives officers the power to seize any item that could be used for anti-social behaviour.
This will be in place from 3pm today and will remain until 3pm on Sunday 11 May.
The area affected by the two Orders are bordered by roads including Green Lane, Dodds Lane, Ormonde Drive, Broadwood Avenue, Hall Lane, Old Hall Road and Moss Lane.
Local Policing Chief Inspector Jordan Quinn said: “These two Orders will be in force following recent reports of anti-social behaviour in Maghull.
“More officers will be in the area and if they suspect or witness anyone causing anti-social behaviour in our community, they will be dealt with through the powers of these Orders.
“We take reports of ASB extremely seriously and share the views of most people who live in Maghull who believe this behaviour has no place in our community.
“We would urge parents/guardians to know where your kids are and who they're with, to ensure they don't become involved in situations which could cause disruption or distress to local communities and residents.
“If you witness or become aware of any ASB happening in your area over this evening or over the weekend, please get in touch.”
