UPDATE: Woman Tragically Dies Following Stabbing in Bootle – Man Arrested on Suspicion of Murder

We are heartbroken to report that the 44-year-old woman who was stabbed in Bootle on Friday afternoon has sadly died from her injuries. This tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the community, and we extend our deepest condolences to her family and loved ones at this incredibly difficult time.
The incident occurred on Friday 20th June at approximately 5:05pm, when emergency services were called to a business premises on Stanley Road, near its junction with Wadham Road, following reports that a woman had been seriously injured.
It was reported that the woman had sustained a stab wound to the torso after being assaulted inside the premises. Merseyside Police officers arrived quickly at the scene, where they detained a man and recovered a knife. The woman was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but despite the best efforts of medical staff, she sadly died a short time later.
Her next of kin have been informed, and specialist officers are providing them with support as they come to terms with this devastating loss.
Police have arrested a 47-year-old man from Widnes, who was initially taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. Following the woman’s death, he has now been further arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Merseyside Police have confirmed that the incident is being treated as a domestic-related assault, and that the victim and suspect were known to each other. At this stage, no one else is being sought in connection with the investigation.

Detective Inspector Gavin Mulcahy, leading the investigation, said:
“It is desperately sad that a woman lost her life earlier today as a result of this incident. Our thoughts first and foremost are with her family, who are now left to grieve her loss in the most tragic of circumstances. They will be fully supported by specialist officers in the coming days and weeks.”
“The community too will feel the shock and upset of this incident, and we will have officers on high visibility patrols in the area over the weekend to hopefully provide reassurance and support for anyone who needs it.”
“Detectives will continue to gather witness statements and forensic evidence to establish a full understanding of what took place. We know Stanley Road is a busy road, and there would have been people making their way home from work, heading to the shops or going out for the evening at this time.”
“We urge anyone who saw any part of this incident, or who may have dashcam, CCTV or phone footage, to please get in touch. Even the smallest piece of information could be crucial.”
