Crosby Bubble has been contacted by concerned residents of Elsinore Court, Abbotsford Road, Crosby, about a serious and ongoing water leak that has now become a major safety hazard.
According to residents, the problem began several weeks ago when a contractor attended the site to read the water meters. The meters, located inside a grid for the flats, were reportedly submerged in water. The worker used an electric pump to drain the area so the readings could be taken — but ever since, water has been continuously pouring out of the ground and has never stopped.

Over the past month, the situation has worsened dramatically. What began as a steady trickle has now become a stream of running water, flooding the pavement and the road outside the flats. The area is now dangerously slippery, especially as fallen leaves have begun to collect, turning the surface into a serious accident risk.
Several residents inside Elsinore Court are elderly or disabled, and they are now struggling to safely enter or leave their homes. The constant flow of water across the entrance is making access virtually impossible for those with mobility issues.

One resident told Crosby Bubble: “This has been running for more than four weeks. It’s flowing like a stream across the pavement and into the road. It’s dangerous, it’s wasteful, and it’s unacceptable. United Utilities have been told several times, but nothing has been done. With water shortages, hosepipe bans and soaring bills, how can this be allowed to continue?”
Crosby Bubble visited the site and can confirm that the water is still pouring out like a waterfall, flooding the pavement and road. The conditions are genuinely treacherous, and this is now a clear health and safety emergency.
We are calling on United Utilities, Sefton Council and the landlord of Elsinore Court to take immediate joint action to stop the flow, repair the leak, and make the area safe again. This is no longer a minor maintenance issue — it is a dangerous situation putting residents, visitors and pedestrians at risk.

United Utilities have been aware of this leak for over a month, yet the problem continues to worsen daily. It is simply not acceptable for vulnerable residents to be left living in these conditions while gallons of water are wasted.
Crosby Bubble will continue to follow this situation closely and we urge the responsible parties to respond urgently — before someone is seriously injured.
