Residents in Crosby are growing increasingly frustrated after a bus shelter outside Crosby Plaza on Liverpool Road, removed during filming for a Beatles film at the beginning of March, has still not been reinstated despite a promised return date now having passed.

The shelter, which provided vital seating and protection from the elements, was taken away to accommodate filming. However, there is still nothing in its place, leaving passengers exposed and, for some, in real physical difficulty while waiting for buses.

Merseytravel previously confirmed that the shelter was “due to be reinstalled with a provisional date commencing week 30th March, dependant on all the highway permits and authorisations sourced from Sefton Council.” With today now 17th April, that date has clearly come and gone, raising serious questions about delays and accountability.
Local residents have voiced their anger and concerns:
Ian said: “The film crew should have left the area as they found it.”
Dorothy, aged 86, highlighted the impact on vulnerable people. She said: “I have very bad legs. That bus shelter was a blessing. I could sit and wait for the bus. Now I am in constant pain standing waiting for it.”
Mike added: “The council are quick enough to take the money and far too slow to replace the bus stop. It’s unacceptable.”
The ongoing absence of the shelter is more than just an inconvenience. For elderly residents and those with mobility issues, it is a daily struggle. Many are now questioning why both the film company and Sefton Council have allowed such an essential community facility to remain missing long after filming has finished and the agreed reinstatement date has passed.
Residents are now calling for urgent action to restore the shelter without any further delay.
