A search is underway following calls for concerns of the safety of a man at Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre. HM Coastguard has confirmed a search is still ongoing.
People are being asked to avoid the Crosby Beach area this evening to allow emergency services to continue their search. The police have erected a cordon around the grassed area at Crosby Marina to stop members of the public getting to the waters edge.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services are responding to an incident in Waterloo this evening, Friday 11 August.”
"At around 4.50pm we received a report of a concern for safety of a man in the Marine Lake, next to Crosby Lakeside Adventure Centre. The incident is ongoing and we ask that people please avoid the area at this time."
A spokesperson from Merseyside Fire and Rescue said: “We can confirm that crews are at Crosby Marine lake this evening to attend an incident that is ‘ongoing’.”
“We recieved reports of a person in the water at 4.55pm today with crews arriving at the scene for 5.03pm.”
“Police and search and rescue teams are at the scene too. North West hazardous area response team is searching the lake.”
Earlier this afternoon Merseyside Police were at the Marine Lake having undertaken water based activities with local teens at Crosby Lakeside as part of their Summer plan to reduce ASB and summer violence.
