There is a real buzz in Crosby today as the area around the iconic Crosby Plaza Cinema is dramatically transformed for the new Beatles film project directed by Sam Mendes.

Although filming has not yet begun, the preparation work alone is turning heads and drawing crowds.

The bus stop opposite the Plaza has been completely restyled to reflect the 1950s and 1960s era, with authentic vintage signage and details carefully installed. Modern advertising posters have been replaced with old style designs, and even the film listings on the front of the cinema have been changed to period titles, creating an incredibly convincing time warp effect.

For anyone walking past, it genuinely feels as though Crosby Road North has stepped back into the early days of Beatle mania. The attention to detail is remarkable, with production crews meticulously adjusting every element to ensure historical accuracy before cameras start rolling.
As a result of the set build and equipment in place, there is currently congestion along Crosby Road North. Drivers are advised to allow extra time for their journeys while this work continues. We understand the preparations are expected to remain in place for at least a couple of days, although exact filming times have not yet been confirmed.
The Beatles’ story is deeply rooted in Merseyside, and to see Crosby chosen as part of this major cinematic project is something special for the community. With anticipation building, many locals are already stopping to take photos and soak up the atmosphere as this exciting piece of film history unfolds right here in our Bubble.
If you’re out and about near the Plaza and capture any photos of the incredible transformation, send them in Crosby is officially ready for its close up. 🎥✨
