Police car smashed through railings onto the pavement after RTC on junction of Knowsley Road

An RTC on the junction of Knowsley Road and A565 just after flyover by Liverpool Docks. Air bags on both vehicles were deployed.

Rimrose Road Southbound in Bootle has been closed after the incident. A Matrix police car crashed through railings and entered the pavement and sustained damage. A black Audi has also been damaged.

Merseyside Police and North West Ambulance Service are in attendance. At the time of writing, it is unclear whether anyone involved sustained injuries.

Huge traffic queues and congestion at the junction and surrounding areas so please avoid if possible.

RTC on junction of Knowsley Road and A565 just after flyover by Liverpool Docks. The incident involving a Police car and a black car. The road is completely closed. The police car has gone through the railings, all air bags in both cars have gone off. Please avoid the area if travelling into Liverpool as long delays are expected.A major road has been closed due to a crash which involved a police car.
